Articles

I think that the articles were very interesting because the first two pointed out something I never knew before: that the term adolescence was only recently invented. Teenagers didn't exist because of the fact that children automatically turned into adults at one point in their life. The most important factor into this creation is the newly developed social experiences children faced when going to school. These social experiences morphed the children into something other than adults: teenagers.
People can mature in two different ways: mentally and physically. The more important one of the two is obviously the mental aspect, and that determines whether or not you are an adult. In the past, people matured faster mentally than physically, so they became "adults" faster. Nowadays, people mature physically faster than they do mentally, and that's why teenagers look like adults but aren't accepted as adults yet.
